Metod Frlic (1965) graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana (BA degree in 1988 and MFA in 1996), both under Professor Luj Vodopivec). He perfected his studies in Germany at the Atelierhaus Worpswede (1995) and in Japan at the S-Air, Sapporo Artist in Residence in Sapporo (2000). He has participated in group and solo exhibitions home and abroad, receiving numerous awards for his work, including a recognition award for artistic achievement from the University of Ljubljana in 2008. He is nationally acclaimed as a superb creator of plastic art portraits, working mainly in marble, granite and wood, but often also experimenting with other art techniques, which he uses to build a particular composition of thematically radical messages. Frlic lives and works in a former school building, rearranged as a studio, in Malenski vrh under the Blegoš Hill in the Poljanska dolina Valley.
