Matej Čepin (1977) is a self-taught artist, who learnt how to paint through diligence supported by an undying passion for what he does. His works are based on enthusiasm for classic art, and at the same time an unconcern with artistic genres, which only adds to the scope of his painting efforts. Čepin is a cinephile, a passionate lover of horror movies by Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch and David Cronenberg, as well as Franz Kafka’s literature. He has presented his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is the winner of numerous awards, including the 2nd prize at the 4th biennial of small-size paintings in Ljutomer and the Grand Prize of the painter’s Ex – tempore in Piran. He lives and works in Celje.
