Oko migranta / Eye of the Migrant
2015
sculpture
200 x 100 x 100 cm

This year Slovenia witnessed the first massive tide of migrants, which we all observed and reacted to differently. Similarly, the sculpture Eye is also a kind of observer, reacting to other observers; like a migrant, moving from one exhibited work to another. In a certain respect, the sculpture itself can be labeled as migrating between the concepts of traditional statue and new media installation, with interactivity introducing it to new media spheres.

Jure Fingušt Prebil (1989) graduated in sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2012. He is currently continuing his studies at the Universität für Künstlerische und Industrielle Gestaltung in Linz. In September 2015 he showcased his interactive installation Take your time at the Ars Electronica Post – Post festival in Linz, Austria. His works have been shown (from 2010 onwards) in numerous group exhibitions home and abroad. Since 2009 he has been presenting his public installation works, and participating in international sculpture symposiums: Skultura (2001, 2009, 2011) in Sant Andrea, Italy; Forma V (2009) in Sinja Gorica – Vrhnika, Slovenia. He lives and works in Linz.
